What Is Content Velocity
Content velocity is how many pieces you publish in a period. Planned properly it is derived from a traffic goal rather than picked from a calendar.
Most teams choose a cadence first and hope it is enough. That is how a program runs for a year at four posts a month against a goal that needed twelve.
How This Calculator Works
The model assumes posts reach maturity inside the stated timeframe. Add three to six months for a domain with little existing authority.
Sanity Check on Cadence
| Posts per month | What it takes | Realistic for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 to 4 | One writer part time | Founder-led teams, narrow categories |
| 8 to 12 | A writer plus an editor | Funded startups building a first engine |
| 16 to 30 | A small team or an agency | Companies attacking a whole category |
| 40+ | Programmatic pages, not articles | Sites with templated page opportunities |
Past roughly 30 articles a month, quality control becomes the limit rather than writing capacity.
How to Hit the Goal With Fewer Posts
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many blog posts a month does B2B SaaS need?
For most funded startups, eight to sixteen. The right answer comes from your traffic gap and the ceiling per post, which is what this tool calculates.
2. Is publishing more always better?
No. Volume without keyword selection lowers your hit rate and adds pages nobody reads.
3. What cost per post should I use?
Freelancers commonly run $150 to $600 per article, agencies vary widely, and internal writers cost their loaded salary divided by output.
4. What if my hit rate is unknown?
Check how many of your last twenty posts get any organic traffic at all. That percentage is your hit rate.
5. Does this include refresh work?
No. Budget an extra 15 to 25 percent of production capacity for refreshing older posts.
